Mark has always had a keen interest in conservation and animal husbandry, probably stemming from his early involvement with his father’s smallholding. He has won various prizes at local shows and poultry competitions, and although he no longer keeps chickens in the backyard, visiting agricultural shows is still a highlight of the summer months.
His love of outdoor activities extends to fishing, which he adopted at an early age, and he’s long been a keen specimen fisherman who travels around the world in search of big fish. His passion for pursuing aquatic monsters started in his early 20s when he travelled to the River Ebro in Spain, a location he still returns to today.

Art and design feature heavily in his pastimes, as does a love of all things tactile; in particular, woodworking and woodturning have provided many hours of enjoyment as he crafted objects from classic pens to resin river tables. However, his garden workshop is also a site for experimentation with all kinds of mediums and projects, and for the multiple challenges and solutions that come along with them. When he is not in the workshop, he can be found making home improvements, doing D.I.Y. and occasionally gardening.
Outside of the home, Mark enjoys trips to the theatre, to art galleries and to see the sights in whatever city he finds himself in, as well as finding time to relax with good food and a beer. During his career, he’s been lucky enough to travel to many parts of the world, including Asia and North and South America. However, his country of choice is Thailand, where he often found meditating in one of the beautiful temples of the North East.
